Editor

I love — LOVE — editing (and em dashes). Skills + strengths:

  • Lovingly but ruthlessly editing copy on a deadline, from total rewrites to final touches

  • Keeping an eye on tone, structure and flow, in addition to grammar, spelling, style, punctuation, word choice and all the rest

  • Assigning work and managing writers

  • Proofreading

Writer

I co-wrote a whole book! That’s probably not what you’re after. Skills + strengths:

  • Branding, marketing and internal/external comms copy for a range of voices and audiences, including:

    • Social media posts, blogs and emails

    • Newsy features, feature-y features, profiles and Q+As

    • Newsletters, infographics, pamphlets, posters and postcards

    • Mission/vision/values statements, about-us and bio pages, and other web and/or branding copy

Consultant

Branding + media

  • Honing your company’s or brand’s voice and developing a plan to use it consistently across media, communications, etc.

  • Brainstorming and planning approach, topics, voice, etc. for podcasts, blogs and social media

Feminism + inclusion

  • Discussing issues of inclusion, why they matter and how you can address them

  • Understanding why certain dynamics exist (and why they don’t have to)

Researcher

I love diving down a research rabbit hole to find out why things are the way they are. Sometimes that looks like:

  • Pulling facts, stats and historical context for a podcast episode (or a book)

  • Learning the intricacies of a new employee program to inform how a company will launch and use it

  • Studying the social-media and blog landscapes to find out what people are interested in and what kinds of posts could fill a gap

Interviewer

I’ve honed my interviewing abilities over many years. Skills + strengths:

  • Connecting with subjects (I’ve never met a stranger)

  • Steering conversations (and being steered when the conversation calls for it)

  • Keeping it to the allotted time slot (however reluctantly)

Speaker

I do love educating and entertaining from a stage (and not just when it comes to karaoke). Areas of expertise:

  • Topics: Feminism, gender, women

  • Types: Keynotes, workshops (for adults or kids), panels, informative / educational talks, interviews
